New Perspectives: Denyse Thomasos
Denyse Thomasos (1964–2012) was a Trinidadian-Canadian artist whose epic paintings incorporate imagery from a range of sources, including Caribbean textiles, historic slave ships, industrial shipyards, graveyards, villages and maximum security prisons. Denyse Thomasos: Odyssey celebrates the artist's historic contribution to the narrative of Canadian art from which BIPOC voices have been excluded for far too long.

To commemorate Black History Month and the upcoming exhibition, join McMichael Chief Curator Sarah Milroy and Gaëtane Verna, Director of The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, for a curatorial discussion on Thomasos' life, legacy and artistic practice.
